Once the holidays, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, panettone and sparkling wines are sold out, the protagonists of holidays in Italy inexorably become the white weeks. For a couple of months and more the mountains will be the undisputed queens of Italian tourism, between snow and ski slopes taken by storm. Trentino Alto Adige is undoubtedly the most popular region when it comes to skiing holidays, and so let’s go and discover a place that is not very well known but which is worth exploring and visiting: Polsa di Brentonico.
Polsa is one of the hamlets of Brentonico, the southern gateway to Trentino Alto-Adige 16 km from Rovereto, so renamed due to its shape which recalls that of a basin (brenta in the local dialect). A recent tourist settlement (dating back to the 1970s), Polsa is literally set in the Brentonico plateau and ideally leans against Monte Baldo, a mountain group full of refuges and refreshment points. The famous Path of Peace passes near the town, an itinerary halfway between history and hiking that crosses the whole region.
Polsa di Brentonico is ideal for a white week in Trentino. In fact, the locality hosts ski lifts that lead to the nearby Polsa – San Valentino station, which allows you to ski on 40 kilometers of perfectly snow-covered slopes. Even children can approach this magnificent sport in a special baby parking on the snow, while snowboarders can go wild in the snow park which is also lit at night. There are also two ski schools for beginners.
Not only skiing and snow, Polsa di Brentonico offers, especially on Monte Baldo, trekking routes and a maze of itineraries for cycling. After so much sport, how can we not think about the Trentino delicacies, from polenta to speck, passing through canederli, corned meat, venison and wild boar ragout….
